The JWU Library and ACE Center are offering an in-person workshop on Portfolio Creation (Part 1), 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the Library Computer Lab.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to design an online portfolio to impress prospective employers and stand out from the competition. A well-designed portfolio will highlight your educational and professional experience, your goals and top achievements, and use visuals that demonstrate your skills.
This workshop is part of the Building Your Personal Brand series, an ongoing series designed to help you move from student to professional.

The Be a Better You Book Club invites you to join us, 3:30 - 5 p.m., Wed. Oct. 12 at the JWU Library, for a discussion of Daring Greatly by Brené Brown. We will discuss the first half of the book (Chapters 1-3) in the initial meeting. Copies of Daring Greatly are available for checkout at the JWU Library. The Be a Better You Book Club is open to all JWU students, faculty and staff.

Do you love arts and crafts? Are you looking for something free and fun to do? Join us at the JWU Library for our monthly program Fun Fridays With Crafty Creations! Our first craft day of the semester will be 12- 3 p.m., this Friday, Sept. 23. We will make worry dolls and recycled coasters in the Art Corner. You may also bring your own craft project if you prefer.

“I’m always up for a challenge,” Coleman said. “It’s fun meeting other chefs from across the country. It’s networking in a really cool way.” Asked why he keeps getting calls from Food Network producers, Coleman humbly replied, “I don’t think I’m the most exciting TV personality. But I know food, and I think they just want people who are confident and have a story to tell. “Every time I’m on, I make it a mission to talk about my hometown, Charlotte, and the ingredients we can source locally here in North Carolina. I guess there’s something about a Southern guy.”
