Following a long period of inactivity, the Reedy Creek Park Community Garden is returning to Facebook. The garden has been going strong (for 20 years this year!) but keeping up with social media may be harder than keeping up with weeds! Reedy Creek Community Garden is sponsored by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. For information about Reedy Creek and all MCPR's community gardens, contact Leon White, MCPR Community Garden Coordinator, at MCPR's Community Garden page: https://parkandrec.mecknc.gov/Places-to-Visit/Parks/community-gardens

Calling all gardeners - Spring 2018 work day takes place Saturday, April 14, from 9 AM to 11 AM. This is a time to work on all-garden projects, including cleaning paths and common areas and moving mulch to refresh those spots. After working on the common areas, you can feel free to work on your own plot in the afternoon.

All good things must come to an end, and with temperatures in the 20s coming this Friday night, it is time to get ready. Make a big fall harvest this week, before it's too late, and consider covering tough veggies that can handle cold with a little help - Christo is our inspiration. Charlotte Glen of NC CES has a good primer on frost protection, visit

She shares a nice picture there, too. Well, at least it is raining, and we need that. And we knew this mild fall couldn't last forever...
