Strong communities are built through collaboration.

For Brad Hulbert of Grant Thornton, Leadership Charlotte has been an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the people, perspectives, and issues shaping our community. Through shared learning and new relationships with Class 48, he's discovering how leaders from different sectors can work together to create meaningful impact.

Thank you to Grant Thornton US for sponsoring this month's program day and supporting the development of community-minded leaders.

Happy Friday Leaders!

Hope often begins with action. Atrium Health's historic $340 million investment in mental and behavioral health care is a powerful reminder that leadership isn't just about identifying challenges, it's about creating solutions.

With 1.5 million North Carolinians affected by mental health challenges, expanding access to care helps build a healthier, stronger community for all.

We're always proud to see Leadership Charlotte alumni alongside our community leaders helping advance solutions that strengthen our region!

Education Day Recap 📚🍎

From early childhood education to life after graduation, Leadership Charlotte Class 48 spent the day exploring the full educational landscape of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and the many pathways that shape student success.

We began at Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center, where leaders discussed the importance of early childhood education and access to quality care. At East Mecklenburg High School, class members heard about the school's history, toured the campus through the eyes of student ambassadors, and shared lunch conversations with students about their experiences navigating education today.

The afternoon focused on the broader state of education in our community, highlighting the roles of traditional public schools, charter schools, higher education, and workforce development programs. We wrapped up the day with powerful conversations about postsecondary opportunities and the vital role families, educators, community organizations, and employers all play in supporting students.

The day concluded with a commitment ceremony, where class members reflected on what they learned and identified how they can use their leadership, voice, and influence to strengthen educational outcomes in our community.

Thank you to our speakers, panelists, hosts, students, and partners representing the following organizations who shared their expertise and experiences: Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center, Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, Child Care Resources Inc., East Mecklenburg High School, Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Sugar Creek Charter School, WFAE, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and The ROC Charlotte.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Class 47 team that planned this energetic, innovative day for Class 48.

Together, we were reminded that educating a child truly takes a village. đź’™ hashtag

Happy Friday Leaders!

Following our Education Day visit to East Mecklenburg High School yesterday, we're carrying this reminder into the weekend!

Thank you to the students, faculty, and staff who welcomed Class 48. One of the highlights of the day was hearing directly from students and learning about their experiences, aspirations, and perspectives on education.

The challenge: how will you create opportunity for the next generation of leaders in our community?

This year, we're sharing the Leadership Charlotte experience through the eyes of our participants. Through our Partner Spotlight series, members of the current class will share their experiences, insights, and growth along the way.

First up is Laura Cragg of Central Piedmont Community College. Just one program day in, Laura and her classmates are building new connections, exploring Charlotte's challenges and opportunities, and looking forward to what comes next.

A special thank you to Central Piedmont for sponsoring this month's program day and helping create a meaningful learning experience for our class.
