Join us CHARLOTTE, NC — The Black Political Caucus (BPC), joined by Shauna Bell, Douglas Jones, and Sean Langley, will file a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on Monday, March 2, 2026, against the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking to halt further action on the proposed I‑77 expansion.

The planned filing seeks an immediate pause to allow unresolved legal and community concerns to be reviewed before irreversible decisions are made. The Black Political Caucus authorized this action following internal deliberation and consultation with legal counsel, citing the need for transparency, accountability, and meaningful consideration of community impact.

“This action is about creating space for review and accountability before the process moves any further,” said a representative of the Black Political Caucus.

Press Conference

The Black Political Caucus and plaintiffs will address the public and media following the filing:

Date: Monday, March 2
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Charlotte Government Center
600 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC

An evening rooted in leadership, community, and connection.

This past Sunday, we were honored to host the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chair’s Open House at Arbol Eatery in Uptown Charlotte.

The evening brought together more than 125 elected officials, judicial and legislative candidates, educators, attorneys, community leaders, and residents from across Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and the state of North Carolina — coming together after the election season to reconnect, reflect, and look ahead.

Thoughtful remarks, meaningful conversations, and a shared commitment to public service filled the room.

We’re grateful to the Caucus leadership, candidates, and community members who joined us — and proud to provide a space where dialogue, civic engagement, and culture intersect.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the evening to life — from the culinary team to décor, music, and production.
