If you're a domestic violence survivor, or know someone affected by domestic violence, I REALLY need your help.
I've partnered with Central Piedmont Community College to start the William Wilson Domestic Violence Scholarship. The scholarship provides funds for certification programs and continuing education programs. It's not geared towards 2-4 year degrees. These programs take 30-150 days, and allow the survivors to become either marketable or situated to start their own business as quickly as possible. Programs like personal training, paralegal, and Microsoft certifications, etc. There are 100s of them.
I'm trying to initially fund this program with $10,000. With you guy's help, I can do it. If 200 people give just $50 we're there. Or if a thousand give just $10. You get the idea.

We've moved the date from the week before Memorial Day in May, to the weekend after Easter in April. It's a great time. So don't miss out.
This isn't to say that breast cancer awareness isn't important. It is. But for every woman that will get breast cancer, 2-3 will become a victim of domestic violence. In haft, domestic violence kills more women than all forms of cancer AND car accident6 combined. Yet no one hardly ever talks about it.
The # NFL announced a domestic violence initiative a few years ago. And that was the last thing they've dafydd about it. The NFL has a domestic violence problem, but every game in October is about breast cancer. That even have an initiative called "crucial catch". Which is apropos considering if you can make the "crucial catches" you can stay employed in the league. Apparently the bar is you have to actually be caught video knocking a woman out cold to lose your job. But it's not just the NFL.
The closing pitcher for the Washington Senators in game 2 of the was acquired as he was serving a 75 game suspension for domestic violence. Yet one of the Senators' executives was fired because he was using expletives and seen as taunting. I guess 's campaign should be "crucial save"
But this is bigger than sports. How many of you reading this has a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, friend or loved one that has experienced domestic violence, yet you've posted nothing? We can't hold sports organizations to a higher standard than we hold ourselves. I want to figure out a way to move month to another month, so people will start paying attention.
