“Rally to Raleigh”: Oppose Offshore Oil and Gas Development Off of Our Coast | North Carolina Coastal Federation 02/06/2018

You are invited to join Greenpeace and our coalition partners against Offshore Oil Drilling and travel to Raleigh on Monday, Feb. 26 to bring the power of the coast to Raleigh for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s public meeting. Your voice is needed to make a strong statement “NOT OFF OUR COAST” to the federal government’s new draft five-year lease plan for offshore oil and gas exploration, which would devastate our coastal economy, beaches, fishing and vital coastal tourism. If you are on the coast, our coalition partners have made it easier to get there. Buses have been chartered and will be leaving from the coast to Raleigh for the meeting, which runs 3-7 p.m. in an open-house setting. Spots are limited, so register as soon as possible.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein:
"As North Carolina’s Attorney General, I am absolutely committed to protecting our state’s people, natural resources, and economy. Offshore drilling threatens each of these. North Carolina's coastline is a national treasure that is essential to our state’s tourism and fishing industries. I oppose the Trump Administration’s off-shore drilling proposal and will explore all options to protect North Carolina's coast, economy, and people."

Duke Energy is planning to raise YOUR electricity bill by about $20 per month to help pay for their risky bets. They want YOU to pay for coal ash cleanup, the same toxic waste they dumped into unlined pits hoping that, against science and common sense, it wouldn't leach into people's drinking water.
