Today, two housing organizations came together around a shared belief: strong communities begin with stable homes.

Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte's mission is rebuilding homes, revitalizing communities, and repairing lives. Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region's mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. While our work may take different forms, both organizations are committed to helping families and homeowners build a stronger future.

More than 20 homeowners joined us for a Home Maintenance Workshop, where they learned about foundations, roofing, gutters, plumbing, and electrical systems. Participants also gained hands-on experience with drywall repair, caulking, and power tools, building the confidence and skills needed to care for their homes.

Collaboration is about recognizing where our missions intersect and finding ways to serve homeowners more completely. When organizations come together to share knowledge, resources, and expertise, homeowners gain the tools to protect their investment, preserve their homes, and remain connected to the communities they love.

That is what collaboration looks like. Different organizations. Shared purpose. Greater impact.

On June 9-11, 9:30am to 2:30pm, volunteers will come together through She Builds to complete critical home repairs for homeowners facing challenges that cannot wait.

And we hope you are one of them.

These repairs help older adults age in place, preserve housing stability, and ensure neighbors can continue living in the communities they love.

For many homeowners, a critical repair is the difference between staying safely housed and facing impossible choices.

Housing preservation is affordable housing.

When we help people stay in their homes, we preserve more than a structure. We protect stability, dignity, health, and community.

Critical home repair does more than fix homes. It reduces preventable healthcare costs.

Research from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency found every $1 invested in essential home repairs for older adults and people with disabilities helps prevent up to $19 in Medicaid spending. Home modifications and urgent repairs help reduce falls, injuries, hospital visits, and premature moves into higher-cost care settings.

Housing preservation is healthcare prevention.

Safe homes save lives. Smart investment. Real impact.

More than half of the homeowners we serve are over the age of 65. Safe housing is health care.

A missing handrail. loose step, or cracked flooring turn into emergency room visits every day for older adults trying to stay independent. Our Safe at Home program provides grab bars, ramps, handrails, flooring repairs, lighting, and safer entryways that reduce risk before a crisis happens.

One repair changes how someone moves through their home, sleeps at night, and ages with dignity.
