Today our thoughts are with the Brothers and Sisters of Local 1619 in Prince George’s County after the LODD of FF Paramedic Demair Lloyd who suffered a medical emergency after getting off shift Saturday morning. This hits close to home for Local 660 as two members of our Executive board are former Local 1619 members. We will continue to keep Demair’s Fire Dept family, his wife who is also a Paramedic with the Dept and his children, in our thoughts and prayers.

Have a pleasant and safe Memorial Day from Local 660

Today as you are with family and friends, please take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

“This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home. This is not Veterans Day, it’s not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.”-Tamra Bolton

Our thoughts on Sunday afternoon are with our brothers and sister from Boston Firefighters Local 718 as they are dealing with the LODD of Boston Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr which occurred Saturday night at a 3 Alarm fire. FF Kilduff was a United States Marine and a 24 year veteran of the BFD who was currently assigned to Rescue2 . We will continue praying for Robert’s family and the entire BFD.

Lee Abernethy was hired on the CFD in April of 1968. During his tenure he was assigned to Platform 1, Squad 1, Engine 5, and upon retirement was assigned to Battalion 2 (at Station 11). But his greatest impact was as the CFD’s first EMS training officer. When the fire department started running medical calls in 1978 it was Captain Abernethy that put the programs together and got everyone through the program. A lasting impact even today.

Chief Abb was also a member of the Charlotte Police Dept. Reserve Unit, a Mason, Shriner and photographer for every organization he was a part of his entire life. The care taker for the Sugaw Creek Cemetary, Historian and Local 660 member was his passions in the last 20 years. Being one of the members of Local 660 when they recharter in 1969 was always something he was proud of.
Abb was one of a kind and his storied history will outlast the next generation. He will be missed and will never be forgotten. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

President Feneis and the Officers and members of Local 660 extended our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Brother Spielman to both Local 734 Baltimore City Firefighters and Local 964 Baltimore City Fire Officers. You guys and gals will absolutely be in our thoughts and prayers.

It is with profound sadness that Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734 announce the passing of active member Firefighter Timothy Spielman, a member of Engine Company 20.

Brother Spielman joined the Baltimore City Fire Department on August 13, 2003, and served the citizens of Baltimore with courage, professionalism, and dedication throughout his career. His loss is deeply felt throughout our firehouse family and across the Baltimore City Fire Department. Timothy was more than a firefighter, he was a brother, a friend, and someone who answered the call to serve others every single day.

On behalf of the Executive Board and membership of Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734, we extend our deepest condolences to the Spielman family, his brothers and sisters at Engine 20, Truck 18, Medic 8, and all who knew and loved him.

Please keep Timothy’s family and our members in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Brother. We have the watch from here.
