IMPORTANT UPDATE: Major step forward for Charlotte Firefighters, but the fight is not over yet!

During today’s budget adjustment meeting our two major requests of Pay Parity (and subsequent 10% pay plan increase) and 5 Modified Duty positions got overwhelming support from Council Members to move on to the straw vote portion of the budget approval. What does that mean?

Over the next 2 weeks council will work with the budget to find funding for these desperate needs that will improve recruitment/retention, and provide needed relief for injured firefighters. City Council heard your concerns and are seeing their importance!

Keep spreading the word because June 1st is a straw vote to again move these items closer to the final FY27 budget. Local 660 was there and will continue to work hard for all Charlotte firefighters!

Today, the 13’s assisted E28 on an MVA involving a fuel tanker on Old Stateville Road. Crews located a leak at a side discharge port, and Hazmat & Engine 13 transferred the remaining fuel from the compromised cell into an empty one to secure the scene. Strong work by all units on a safe, efficient mitigation.
