Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School Public CMS magnet school near Uptown Charlotte and a Leader in Me Lighthouse school! 💙🤍💛 We have offered a Traditional K-5 magnet program since 1977.

Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School is an institution that has provided outstanding educational training for young children since opening its doors in 1912. The school’s building structures, name, and curriculum have been altered over the years to meet various demands on a diverse and ever-shifting population. One quality of the school and its staff has remained constant: Its commitment to a solid educational foundation for all students. ETES is located in the Elizabeth neighborhood at the intersection of Park Drive, East 5th Street, and Travis Avenue, and backs up to Independence Park. It is near Presbyterian Hospital, with the Uptown Charlotte skyline in clear view and in close proximity. The location of the school has been significant in its historical beginnings. ETES maintains valuable relationships with local community organizations and businesses that act as partners with the school.

Have you heard about K Play? We’re one of seven elementary schools in CMS piloting this program, which builds an additional hour of play into our Kindergarten daily schedule!

ETES is special because we have a Play Lab dedicated to K Play; each of our kindergarten classes visits every day, and it is always staffed by at least 2 adults! Students can explore imaginative play, investigate at the sensory table, build towers and towns, work on puzzles together, draw, color, create with playdough, and so much more! Our students love it, and we do too! 🎨🧩🧸🧱

Want to volunteer at ETES but not sure where to start? Heart Math Tutoring is looking for volunteer tutors to pair with select ETES students for the 26-27 school year! Heart Math is a fun, effective way to support our lower grades students practice their foundational math skills. They use an evidence-based curriculum and provide training so that our volunteers are prepared to help build our students’ math confidence! Tutoring takes place at our school Monday through Friday, 9:10-10:10 AM or 3:10-4:15 PM and would be a weekly, 1 hour commitment. Click the link below if you’re interested!
