🌳🍂 FRESH MULCH, FRESH LOOK AT DEAN PARK! 🍂🌳

Our City of Charlotte Parks & Recreation team has been busy giving Dean Park a little TLC! 💚

✨ Fresh mulch has been spread throughout the playground, giving the area a clean, refreshed look while helping provide a cushioned surface for our little adventurers to enjoy!

It’s the little improvements that make a BIG difference in keeping our parks beautiful, welcoming, and ready for families to enjoy! 🌞🛝

👏 A big THANK YOU to our hardworking DPW and Parks team for continuing to take pride in our community spaces!

🍁 Fall is a wonderful time to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and explore one of Charlotte’s neighborhood parks!

Our hearts are with the Eaton County Road Commission following yesterday’s tragic loss of one of their team members.

This loss hits especially close to home for the City of Charlotte Department of Public Works, as he was a former member of our DPW team before continuing his public service with the Eaton County Road Commission.

We are also keeping the other Road Commission employees who were injured, their families, coworkers, and the entire Road Commission team in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

This tragedy is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks public works and road crews face while serving our communities. Please keep those working along our roadways in mind and give them the space they need to do their jobs safely.

From one public works family to another, our hearts are with you.

🍂 LEAF & BRUSH DUMP — SEASONAL HOURS UPDATE 🍁

As we head toward the end of the fall season, the City of Charlotte Leaf & Brush Dump will soon be transitioning to its seasonal schedule.

📅 Our FINAL Saturday of the season will be Saturday, November 21, 2026.

⚠️ Please note: The Leaf & Brush Dump will NOT be staffed Thanksgiving weekend.

We encourage residents to plan ahead and take advantage of the remaining Saturday hours before the season wraps up.

Unfortunately, one of the portable restrooms at Oak Park was found tipped over this morning.

Our parks and park amenities are provided for everyone in the community to enjoy. Incidents like this create unnecessary cleanup and expense and can result in amenities being unavailable to park visitors.

Please help us take care of our parks. If you witness vandalism or suspicious activity in a City park, please report it to the Charlotte Police Department.

🌳 Our Park Rangers Get the Job Done! 💪🍂

Sometimes keeping our parks in great shape means going the extra mile… or in Ranger Emily’s case, taking off the shoes! 🥶🦶

On this chilly morning, Emily was truly taking one for the team as she went barefoot into the bowl at the skatepark to unclog the drain and get the water flowing again.

It may not be the most glamorous part of the job, but it’s a great example of the dedication our Rangers bring to caring for our parks and keeping them ready for our community.

👏 Thank you, Emily, for braving the cold and getting the job done! We appreciate all of our Rangers and the many behind-the-scenes tasks they tackle every day.
