It’s been raining, so why are Stage 2 water restrictions still in place? 💧

Recent rainfall has helped improve lake levels and drought conditions, but the Catawba-Wateree River Basin is still recovering from months of dry weather.

One key indicator we’re watching is streamflow. The six-month average remains below normal, which tells us conditions haven’t fully recovered yet.

For now, Stage 2 water restrictions remain in effect. Please continue following the outdoor watering schedule and doing your part to conserve water.

Bring the family out for an evening of trick-or-treating, decorated trunks, food trucks, shelter pups, and fall fun! Charlotte Water will be there alongside community partners for this FREE, family-friendly celebration.

🐾 You can also support shelter pets by bringing Beggin’ Strips or peanut butter that does not contain xylitol for the treat drive.

Despite recent rainfall, Mandatory Stage 2 water restrictions remain in effect for Charlotte Water customers.

While reservoir levels have improved, the Catawba-Wateree River Basin’s six-month average streamflow remains below normal, reflecting the area’s prolonged dry conditions.

Please continue following the current outdoor watering schedule and Stage 2 restrictions, including limits on outdoor watering, residential car washing, pool filling, and decorative water features.

Meet Kyle Davis, a Utilities Labor Crew Chief II, and one of the dedicated team members working around the clock to keep our water flowing and sewer systems working. From repairing leaks to responding to issues in the field, Field Operations helps keep our community running 24/7, 365 days a year.

Field Operations Dispatch.
You turn on the faucet. You flush the toilet. You expect water to be there. And when something goes wrong, you expect someone to respond.

Meet Fred Moody, Supervisor of Field Operations Dispatch. Fred and his team help make sure the right personnel get where they need to be to respond to issues across our water and sewer system.
Without that coordination, as Fred puts it, it would be “total chaos.”
