In our Match Challenge “arena,” four teammates from across the agency step in as fighters, each representing a different department that shows up when our neighbors are in crisis. The twist: there are no rivals here. We all work together so families can keep the lights on and a roof overhead.

Step into the arena with us and take the Challenge. Every gift is matched, dollar for dollar, so your support goes twice as far for neighbors facing financial hardship.

In November 1982, Mecklenburg County commissioners recommended that Crisis Assistance Ministry administer the county’s General Assistance funds. Becoming the lead agency for emergency financial assistance cemented our role as the place where neighbors turn when a financial crisis threatens their stability.

Sun, splash, snacks … and about 47 loads of laundry. 😅

Summer fun is right around the corner, and our neighbors in need deserve to enjoy it, just like everyone else. This week, our most needed Amazon Wishlist items are summer beach towels and laundry detergent – the simple things that make pool days, park days, and backyard adventures a little brighter (and a lot cleaner).

You can shop our Amazon Wishlist and have towels and detergent shipped directly to Crisis Assistance Ministry so families can enjoy the sunshine and still have clean, fresh clothes waiting at home.

Here’s the link to give: https://ow.ly/QKwO50YZyoX.

Most of us do not picture “almost evicted” when we think of a dad with a full-time job and four kids. But that was Eddie Minter’s reality, juggling overdrafts and past due notices to keep a roof overhead.

Through our Financial Empowerment program, Eddie sat down month after month with his specialist, faced hard truths, and rebuilt his budget from the ground up. Today, he has savings, a plan, and a new mindset: “Be intentional.”

During the 2026 Challenge, every dollar given to Crisis Assistance Ministry is matched, up to $ 1 million. That means your gift can help twice as many neighbors access Financial Empowerment and other services that move families from crisis to long-term stability.

Give today and double your impact for families like Eddie’s:

When Mandy’s mother became ill and passed away only a few months later, the loss was emotional and financial at the very same time. Suddenly she was alone in a home that was too big, too expensive, and in serious need of repair. Without her mother’s income, her disability check could not keep up with the mortgage, student loan payments, and rising utility costs in a house without central heat.

By the time Mandy reached out to Crisis Assistance Ministry, both her electricity and water were scheduled for disconnection. Here, she found emergency help to keep her utilities on and referrals to repair her heating system and access low cost dental care. Those steps did more than pay bills. They made her home safer and more affordable and reminded her that she was not carrying this season alone. Read more:

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, and we remember all who have worn the uniform in every branch of the military.

At Crisis Assistance Ministry, we see the ongoing impact of that sacrifice in the lives of veterans, active-duty families, and surviving spouses who turn to us during times of financial crisis. By helping keep lights on, rent paid, and basic needs met, we strive to provide stability and dignity for those who have already given so much.

This Memorial Day, we remember. We honor. And we remain committed to standing alongside our neighbors who have served.
