Charlottesville Middle School Charlottesville Middle School is Charlottesville City School’s middle school for 7th and 8th grade. This is a page dedicated to news about Buford School.

We offer acclaimed fine arts, science & engineering, athletics, and more! This is the official page for Charlottesville Middle School, which serves 7th- and 8th-graders in Charlottesville City Schools. CCS uses Facebook to share important information and highlights and to engage in an open and respectful dialogue. We ask that you follow these guidelines:

• Engage in open conversation, not personal issues. If you have a personal issue, please contact the school or division offices.
• Be respectful. No personal attacks, offensive language, or false information.
• Stay on topic. Let’s keep the conversation related to our division, schools, and activities. Comments about Buford matters are welcome, but let’s stay away from ads, politics, and outside organizations.
• Have a question for a specific employee? Contact them privately. Posters should not expect responses to every question or comment posted on this page.
• Identify yourself. All comments and communication must come from a verifiable account. We want to have a conversation about our schools – but a conversation that is public, respectful, and focused. Comments that do not follow the above guidelines will be removed, and the people who fail to follow them may be blocked. Thanks -- and welcome to our page!

What a rockstar!! Goooooo, JaQueis!!

Faces of CCS: Throughout the school year, we will introduce you to one of the many great people working and learning in Charlottesville City Schools. This week, we introduce you to the first student Face of CCS.

Name: JaQueis Johnson
School: Charlottesville Middle School
Grade: 8th
How long have you been a student with Charlottesville City Schools?: Since the 4-year-old program.
What is your favorite part about school?: Being around my friends, learning math, and hanging out with nice teachers.
What do you enjoy doing outside of school?: Traveling with my family, playing basketball and hanging out with my friends. I’m sort of a local celebrity. I used to rap, but I just stick to basketball now.

Do you know someone who should be spotlighted? Submit your suggestions for Faces of CCS: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfIY5aDipXM3j7R9zVrBsgttVA27iaromYy_r9J8mbfLPeEzw/viewform

Our 7th graders enjoyed a trip to the !! They rotated through three stations that brought their classroom learning to life. In the first station, they surveyed a variety of planting zones and, based on the differences between available sunlight, shade, and moisture, they determined where to their classroom-grown experimental plants would thrive. The second station engaged students in taking a closer look at the living community around them using staged visual observations--observing a chosen living artifact with first the naked eye, then a hand lens, and finally a field microscope. In the final station, students visited the CHS Urban Farm and heard from Cultivate Charlottesville volunteers about the importance of honey bees and the benefits of local produce, culminating with a sampling of local fruit and honey!!
