MUTUAL AID RESPONSE | DUDLEY, MA

At approximately 4:40 a.m. this morning, Charlton Fire Department Engine 1 (E-1) and Car 1 (C-1) responded to the Town of Dudley to assist with a second-alarm structure fire.

Charlton firefighters assisted crews on scene with fire extinguishment and overhaul operations.

During the incident, our firefighters were also able to locate and preserve a folded American flag belonging to the homeowner.

While our primary mission is to protect lives and property, we also recognize the importance of protecting those personal belongings that hold special meaning to the families affected by a fire.

We are proud of our firefighters and grateful for the opportunity to assist our mutual aid partners during this incident.

Sand for Seniors Program

The Charlton Fire Department, in partnership with Charlton CERT, is once again preparing for our Sand for Seniors program to help residents stay safe during the winter months.

Residents who are 60 years of age or older who reside in private homes can receive a bucket of sand to help provide traction on walkways, steps, and other areas around the home during icy conditions.

If you still have a Sand for Seniors bucket from a previous year, please contact the Charlton Senior Center so the Fire Department can arrange to pick it up as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Also, please remember that being on the Sand for Seniors list in a previous year does not automatically place you on the list for this year. Anyone interested in participating this season will need to sign up again.
