When cardiac arrest happens, acting quickly can make all the difference. All you need to be a hero is knowledge, courage and willingness to act.
is an opportunity to refresh your CPR skills or learn the two simple steps of Hands-Only CPR. If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
At the Chatham Fire Department, we know that courage isn't just about running into danger—it’s also about recognizing when to ask for help.
This month, we're shining a light on the importance of mental health—for our first responders, our families, and every member of our community. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and there’s no shame in seeking support.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with themselves and those around them. A simple conversation can make all the difference.
If you or someone you know is struggling, you're not alone. Help is available:
National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: 988
Text "HELLO" to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line
Veteran's Crisis Line: Dial 9-8-8 then press 1
Memorial Behavioral Health: 217-525-1064
Let’s continue building a stronger, more compassionate Chatham—together.

As another school year comes to a close, Chatham Fire Department would like to wish all of the students, teachers, and school staff a very happy last day of school!
A huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing people who help make our schools such a great place for kids each and every day — teachers, teaching assistants, substitute teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, recess monitors, office staff, custodians, coaches, administrators, and so many others who work behind the scenes to support our students. Your hard work, patience, and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate everything you do for our community’s kids.
And to the Glenwood seniors — congratulations! 🎓 We are proud of all you have accomplished and can’t wait to see what your future holds.
Now it’s time for summer adventures, sleeping in, vacations, pool days, and making memories! Have a fun, safe, and well-deserved summer break from all of us at Chatham Fire Department!
