They are opening the doors of their beautiful home at Black Creek and welcoming our community with open arms in support of Hope for the Homeless.

Their generosity is helping us create an evening centered around something much bigger than an event — helping local families find stability, hope, and a place to call home.

🎨 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | GENESIS GREYKID

On October 8, guests of Hope for the Homeless will experience a private art show featuring the work of CHATTANOOGA NATIVE, Genesis Greykid—an artist, poet, and creative whose work explores memory, faith, vulnerability, and the human experience.

“I’ve been an artist since I could truly remember a memory… but none of it really made sense until I fell in and out of love. Until I slept on a park bench. Until I lost and found God.”

Genesis describes his artistic style as PoAnguardia—a fusion of poem/poesia and avanguardia. Through color, poetry, mantras, and abstraction, his work explores the new thresholds unfolding within us and around us.

Rather than demanding attention through spectacle, his pieces create space to slow down, feel, reflect, and connect. Each work carries layers of meaning rooted in his life as a poet and creative from American Appalachia.

As Genesis puts it:

“There’s a secret choreography between the heart & artwork, an ancient language… and in that space, we are moved.”

For Jennifer Walker, Executive Director of Family Promise of Greater Chattanooga, helping families goes far beyond finding a home. It also means helping families stay in their homes by navigating challenges like rising utility costs and access to essential resources.

Right now, that need is growing.

📈 Utility assistance calls have increased 24% from the previous quarter.
📞 Over the past three months, 211 navigators have received approximately 350 utility-related calls each week.

Behind every call is a family trying to keep the lights on, maintain stability, and make ends meet. Jennifer and the Family Promise team continue working alongside families to connect them with the support and resources they need — from housing to utilities and beyond. 🏠💡💙
