🚒 A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR BELLEVUE FIREFIGHTERS 🚒
Within a 15-hour span Bellevue firefighters, with the assistance of our neighboring mutual aid companies, were dispatched to two structure fires — one at a single-family residence and the other at a three-unit apartment building.
Thankfully, in both incidents, all residents were able to evacuate safely, along with their pets.
Both homes had working smoke detectors, which helped alert the occupants and get them to safety. These incidents are a great reminder of just how important working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in your home.
We can’t stress this enough: working detectors save lives. Both of these incidents could have had a much different outcome.
Please take a few minutes to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Replace batteries as needed, and remember that smoke alarms should generally be replaced every 10 years, or sooner if recommended by the manufacturer. Carbon monoxide detectors generally need to be replaced sooner at 5-7 years, or as the manufacturer recommends.
A few minutes of prevention can make all the difference. Stay safe❤️.
