The annual festival, which has been held on the same weekend for decades, happens to fall this year on the 25th commemoration of September 11th. We felt this presented a meaningful opportunity to recognize the day in a special way.

To honor the those who lost their lives on 9/11, and in gratitude for the many emergency responders who continue to serve Erie County and our surrounding communities, The Brothers of Mercy is inviting available fire, police and EMS personnel to join us on campus on September 11th for our remembrance ceremony, immediately preceding our 5K Race to Remember.

We hope to have a strong presence of uniformed first responders for the ceremony and to welcome our runners back as they finish the race. Afterward, we will transition into our annual Oktoberfest, where any paid or volunteer fire, police or EMS member wearing dress blues or a work uniform will receive free admission, including German food and b**r, live entertainment.
We will also have basket raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and vendors for those interested.

Any department or individual affiliated with a paid or volunteer fire, police or EMS service is welcome. Our hope is simply to have a wonderful turnout of the men and women who serve our communities so that we can recognize them appropriately as part of this important commemoration.

We would like to have a reasonable idea of attendance so we can make sure we have adequate food - we already know we have plenty of beverages!
Anyone who has a strong indication they may attend can email Alisa at the contact information on the flyer or Jennifer at [email protected]
We would be honored to have our local first responders join us for the remembrance… and the celebration that follows.
