October is Fire Prevention Month!
Lehigh Township Volunteer Fire Company is excited to kick off Fire Prevention Month today!
We already have our local schools scheduled for fire prevention presentations, and we’re looking forward to spending time with the kids, teaching them about fire safety, showing them our equipment, and helping them understand what firefighters do.
But fire prevention isn’t just for schools!
If there are any groups, organizations, Scouts, daycares, clubs, or other
community groups in Lehigh Township that would like to schedule a tour of the firehouse and a fire safety presentation, please reach out to us. We would love to have you visit!
Fire Prevention Month is a great reminder for every family to talk about fire safety at home.
Make sure your family:
• Has working smoke alarms on every level of the home
• Tests smoke alarms regularly
• Has a family escape plan and practices it together
• Knows two ways out of rooms whenever possible
• Chooses a safe meeting place outside
• Teaches children to get out and stay out — never go back inside
• Knows to call 911 once safely outside
A fire can happen when you least expect it, and having a plan ahead of time can make all the difference.
Take some time this month to sit down with your family, make your plan, practice it, and talk to your children about what to do in an emergency.
Fire prevention starts at home, and together we can help keep Lehigh Township safe!
