It is with a heavy hearts tonight that we share the passing of one of our DCVRS Life Members, Carol Norville. Carol was one of a kind. To know her was to love her. The amount of lives she touched during her time on earth is tremendous. She taught many EMS members over the years how to be amazing servants in the community. She will be missed by many. Below are the words her family shared about Carol, they are beautiful and let you see a glimpse of the truly wonderful woman Carol is. Please keep the Norville family and Carol’s DCVRS and EMS families in your thoughts and prayers.
In Loving Memory of Carol Anne Norville
June 1, 1958 – October 10, 2026
Carol Anne Norville was born on June 1, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Teddy and Olga Bensten.
On October 10, 2026, she was called home by her Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, service and unconditional love.
Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Bensten, and her half-brother, Robert Testa Sr.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel Norville; her son, Matthew Norville, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca; and her cherished grandchildren, Roree, Maelynne, and Malachi, who brought tremendous joy to her life. She is also
survived by her niece, Katie Bensten (Chris); her nephew, Chris Bensten and son Waylon; her nieces, Mary Harrell and the late Kelly Testa; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
Carol was a proud graduate of the University of Virginia, where she pursued her calling to become a nurse. Her life was defined by a genuine passion for helping others and making a difference wherever she went. Carol proudly served her country as a nurse in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, demonstrating her commitment to leadership, service, and duty. She later continued that spirit of service as a paramedic with Davis Corner Volunteer Rescue Squad
and dedicated more than 20 years to caring for patients as an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse. Whether serving her country, responding to an emergency, or providing compassionate care at a patient’s bedside, Carol approached every role with a servant’s heart and an unwavering commitment to others.
Above all, Carol loved the Lord and was passionate about sharing the message of Jesus Christ with everyone she encountered. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she lived every day. She faithfully served her church in many capacities, including Girls in Action, women’s ministry, church event planning, and mission trips to Eastern Europe, where she shared God’s Word and love with people across the world. Her dedication to ministry reflected her deep belief that every person deserved to experience the love and grace of Jesus.
The love Carol shared with everyone she met was immeasurable. She touched countless lives through her military service, her profession, her ministry, her friendships, and the love she gave so freely to her family. Her kindness, compassion, steadfast faith, and willingness to serve others will never be forgotten. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the seeds of faith she planted and the lives she touched will continue to grow and flourish for generations to come.
Carol’s family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her and find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. While she will be deeply missed, they rejoice in the knowledge that she has been welcomed home by the Savior she loved and faithfully served.
