Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council - CEIC Join Good People Doing Great Things About the CEIC: Eighteen volunteers are appointed by the Mayor to serve on the governing board. We welcome your comments.

The purpose of the CEIC shall be to promote interest in improving the environment of Chesapeake, Virginia, thereby making Chesapeake a greener, cleaner and healthier city in which to live, work, and visit. The CEIC will accomplish its purpose through outreach, education, and volunteer efforts, to include litter and pollution prevention, waste reduction and recycling, beautification, conservation landscaping, and other environmental and conservation issues. However, thousands of other volunteers are actively involved in CEIC projects and sub-committees. Visitors are welcome to attend CEIC monthly meetings. Meetings are held at the River Crest Community Center on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon. Currently, meetings are held electronically and in accordance with Amended Ordinance adopted by Chesapeake City Council on April 28, 2020, to effectuate temporary changes in certain deadlines and to modify public meeting and public hearing practices and procedures to address continuity of operations associated with pandemic disaster. If you would like to participate in any of these public meetings, please contact Megan Hale at [email protected]. No regular meeting is held during the months of July, November, or December.
