Test before you treat ๐ฑ Fall is one of the best times to test your soil - it gives you time to make improvements before spring growth kicks in.
A soil test takes the guesswork out of lawn care by identifying nutrient deficiencies, helping prevent over-fertilization, saving you money on unnecessary products, and supporting healthier plants. It also helps protect our local waterways by cutting down on excess fertilizer runoff into rivers, streams, and the Chesapeake Bay.
Soil test kits are available through garden centers, local Virginia Cooperative Extension offices, and soil testing laboratories. Test each area of your yard separately - lawn, garden beds, shrubs - for the most accurate results.
