Thank you, CWA Board, for fighting for the ratepayers and the public! We appreciate you this
The South Ward of the City was first to adopt the act and construction subsequently started on the South Ward Waterworks.
CWA is an award-winning municipal authority that provides quality water to over 43,000 customers in western Delaware County, the City of Chester, and southern Chester County. The origin of the Chester Water Authority dates all the way back to 1866 when an act of Assembly allowed the City of Chester to build a waterworks if the majority of property owners voted in favor of the act. Thank you, CWA Employees!
Every time you use water at home, at work, or at school, youโre relying on a team of trained professionals who run and maintain our water system. Operators, lab staff, maintenance crews, and engineers work around the clock, running treatment, collecting and analyzing samples, maintaining equipment, and completing upgrades that keep water moving throughout the community.

We want to reassure our community: there is no impact to water service, and the situation has been safely addressed. ๐ง
Yesterday, in the same Route 322 PennDOT construction area where last monthโs water main break occurred, a small leak was identified. Chester Water Authority crews located it and determined it was flowing at about 20โ30 gallons per minuteโroughly five times the flow of a typical garden hose.
The dramatic โwater fountainโ some saw was part of the repair process. Crews safely depressurized the pipe before fixing it. While it looked significant, the actual volume of water was modest.
The situation was handled quickly and safely, and everything is now under control.
Thank you for your patience and continued trust.
