Scenes from yesteryear ~

In 2018 famed town historian Audrey Ericson put together a "History of the Chesterfield Police Department" that was just recently unearthed.
Ericson wrote that in 1975 "the Selectmen chose Robert T. Mills as our first Chief of Police. The town purchased a new police cruiser for him, part of which was paid for by a grant (from the NH Highway Safety Agency). Bob's cramped office was the old town jail (lock-up) attached to the Town Hall Annex, which he shared with the Chesterfield Visiting Nurse until 1983."

In partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Chesterfield Police Department will be taking part in National Drug Take Back Day.

Items Accepted: Prescription Medications (Schedule 11-V controlled & non-controlled substances) & over the counter medications.

The Chesterfield Police Department has seen an increase in the number of 911 hang up calls. We are often unable to get the caller back on the line. These incidents can simply be an accidental dial or smart devices that are automatically contacting 911.

If a call is accidentally placed to 911, PLEASE DO NOT HANG UP.

Remain on the line and inform the dispatcher that the call was unintentional. If children in your home use devices, it is advisable to discuss this with them as well!

The Chesterfield Police Department has been informed that there will be a controlled burn being conducted by the Fire Department in the Maple Rd / Prospect Hill Rd area on Saturday, October 3rd starting at approximately 07:30 am concluding by 07:00 pm. Maple Rd and Prospect Hill Rd will be closed to through traffic for this time period. Please plan accordingly.

The Chesterfield Police Department has been informed that Precision Valley Communications has been contracted by Comcast to conduct a survey within the town of Chesterfield, starting today and spanning the next three weeks. All work will be conducted during daylight hours. Survey personnel will be documenting the height & location of telephone poles and taking photographs. Workers will be driving marked vehicles and employees will have safety vests and hard hats on.
