Prop. Q, a use tax, is a way to pay for a new aquatic center without affecting the property tax rate.
It applies Chesterfield's existing local sales tax rate to purchases made from out-of-state and online sellers — the same rate already charged on purchases made within Chesterfield.
The use tax is mostly paid by businesses making large out-of-state purchases from sellers that don’t collect local sales tax.

When we asked Chesterfield residents about the quality of City services, 89% felt that our parks and facilities support strong property values across Chesterfield.
One of those facilities, our pool, is now closed. It’s up to residents what happens next.
On the ballot this November 3, Props. A & Q, if approved by voters, would provide a new aquatic center for our community without changing the property tax rate.

A community Aquatic Center gives residents of all ages a place to swim, exercise and gather.
With activities such as swim lessons, lap swimming, and swim-and-dive programs, a community Aquatic Center offers something for everyone.
If approved, Props. A & Q, on the November 3 ballot, will give residents the opportunity to keep an aquatic center that will continue to serve our community for generations to come.

City Council is placing two propositions, Prop A and Prop Q, on the November 3 ballot. Prop A would allow the City to issue general obligation bonds to fund a new aquatic center, while Prop Q would allow the City to collect a Use Tax to pay off the bonds instead of using a property tax. Any remaining Use Tax revenue would go toward funding Chesterfield Public Safety.

Did you know the Chesterfield Aquatic Center opened in 1998?
After almost 30 years, Chesterfield's pool is now closed. Without a replacement, the City will no longer have a community aquatic center.
On November 3, residents will have the opportunity to vote on Props. A & Q, which, if approved, would replace the current pool without changing the property tax rate.
