Wyoming Arts Council Helping Wyoming communities grow, connect and thrive through the arts. When creative activity is happening in Wyoming, it creates a significant ripple effect.

The economic vitality of an area is stimulated. Galleries, concerts and arts events mean more energy in a community, more tourists, more renovated buildings, and more new businesses. Through music, storytelling and visual art gatherings, people share experiences and ideas. They begin to understand each other in new ways. The arts have a profound effect on Wyoming communities and our state as a whole. WY arts orgs and artists -- please feel free to post your own arts-related status updates on our page.

Historic photographs of Wyoming's Platte Valley are finding new life on film, connecting the people and places of the early 1900s with the community that calls the area home today.

"Rocky Mountain Studio," a new documentary by French filmmaker Maria Reggiani and cinematographer Ned Burgess, was inspired by the work of Lora Webb Nichols, whose photographs captured everyday life in Encampment during the early 20th century.

After traveling from Paris to Wyoming in 2022, the filmmakers spent three years developing a documentary that brings Nichols' historic portraits together with images and stories of present-day residents, exploring the connections between the valley's past and present.

The Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga will host a free premiere screening on Saturday, Oct. 24, with Reggiani and Burgess in attendance to share their film with the community that inspired it.

Saturday, Oct. 24 | 6 p.m.
