Roger Mills Count EMS is a 522 district ran EMS service, the 522 board contracts with Roger Mills Memorial Hospital to provide EMS services. In 2011 under the pressure of dwindling volunteer EMT's the EMS service moved to a centralized paid service, with operations and the ambulance being in Cheyenne. First, it would allow Roger Mills EMS to bring in EMT's to work, which it had no way of attracting EMT's before, this saved the service from having to close. Second, it allowed for a quicker response from the ambulance, now EMT's are required to be en-route withing 5 minutes, with a goal of two minutes. Before it would take anywhere from 7 to 20 minutes for the ambulance to go en-route. And third, it would allow the EMT's living in the outlying communities to respond to a scene as a first responder rather than having to wait for a partner to show up, this puts help at the patients side in a much timelier manner. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, from the care we give, to the quickness of our response times. This page will be used to keep people informed of what we are working on.
