With snow potentially in the forecast, it’s a good time to review how snow and ice removal is managed in downtown Cheyenne.

Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their properties in accordance with City requirements. The DDA website provides information about downtown snow removal procedures, the 2010 Snow Plan, the role of the Clean & Safe Division, and helpful winter weather tips.

The Lost Passengers are waiting in downtown Cheyenne.

The DDA is sponsoring Deadhead Express on October 24. See the original post for the story and event details.

So, about those Lost Passengers…

They’ve been waiting a very long time for this train.
Astrid Pearl: High Society Traveler
Last seen pursuing a particularly fetching silk scarf. Subsequent developments were unfortunate.

Abner Crowley: Traveling Salesman
His final business proposition proved considerably less profitable than anticipated.

Joe Black: Lone Cowboy
Horse recovered. Rider not so much.
They came to Cheyenne with places to go, trains to catch and every expectation of continuing on their way.

They did not.

What happened to them?

Well… that’s a secret only downtown knows. Keep your eyes open. There may be more to find than candy.

Final call to share your feedback on the Downtown Planter Pilot Program.

The pilot planters will be winterized by the end of October as we transition to the winter planter displays throughout the Downtown District. Before that transition begins, we wanted to give the community one more reminder to share their thoughts on the pilot.

The survey will remain open through October 23.

A reminder to share your feedback on the downtown Cheyenne planter pilot.

Eight water-efficient Earth Planters were installed at 17th Street and Capitol Avenue this season to explore alternative planting options for downtown Cheyenne.

Feedback on the planters' appearance, placement, and overall impact will help guide the future of the planter program and inform decisions about downtown landscaping.

The survey takes five minutes or less to complete.

It takes a team to get an event ready.

For this past weekend’s Fall Festival in downtown Cheyenne, DDA staff worked alongside Community Recreation & Events (CRE) team members to help with event preparation.

The DDA’s transition to CRE has brought more opportunities to work alongside other divisions across the department on work happening throughout downtown Cheyenne.

Following damage from the August 2025 hail storm, the Historic Atlas Theatre has replaced 30 historic window panes with support from a Façade Improvement Grant through the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority.

The Façade Improvement Grant supports improvements to building façades and public-facing elements that contribute to the character, accessibility, and vitality of the Downtown District. All improvements must provide a public benefit and enhance the public realm or right-of-way experience visible from a sidewalk, alley, or other public right-of-way.

As the tents come down at the Depot Plaza, work is already underway to transition downtown Cheyenne into the winter season.

That transition involves coordination across the downtown community, with the DDA working alongside other Community Recreation and Events divisions, Visit Cheyenne , Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, DowntownFirst, downtown businesses and property owners, and others.

Over the coming weeks, seasonal planters, lighting, decorations and other winter preparations will begin taking shape throughout the Downtown District.
