The Artist in Residence program is a partnership between Wyoming State Parks and the Wyoming Arts Council. This year, in conjunction with the 250th commemoration, the program expanded to include 19 artists across nine parks and historic sites, supported in part by a grant from the Governor’s Semiquincentennial Task Force.

🎉 Big news for Keyhole State Park!

Wyoming State Parks has been awarded a $3 million grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust to support visitor improvements at Keyhole State Park, including a new visitor center planned for the Coulter Bay area.

The new facility will create a welcoming hub for visitors to learn about the park, explore recreation opportunities, and discover the natural and cultural history of Keyhole and northeast Wyoming. It will also provide space for community gatherings and support year-round park operations.

Earlier this year, we heard from park visitors and community members through a series of public meetings. That input is helping shape the project as it moves into the design phase, with construction currently scheduled for completion in fall 2028.

We’re grateful to the Helmsley Charitable Trust for its continued partnership and investment in Wyoming’s state parks and historic sites.

are we? 🤔🥾

September is Archaeology Awareness Month in Wyoming, so we’re taking a stroll through 10,000+ years of history.

This land has deep Indigenous roots and has served as a homestead, a working cattle ranch, and a wildlife habitat area. It’s an ideal spot for a peaceful afternoon ramble, steeped in beautiful petroglyphs, pictographs, trout fishing, and surrounding landscapes that stretch from cactus to alpine lakes.
