Lincoln Park Conservatory Based on the design of architect Joseph Lyman Silsbee, this beautiful Victorian glass house was built

Owned and operated by the Chicago Park District, the Lincoln Park Conservatory is a beautiful marriage of glass and iron constructed between 1890 and 1895. The structure is divided into four houses featuring palms, ferns, orchids, and various seasonal displays for spring, summer, and the winter holidays. No matter the time of year, however, visitors can feast both eyes and noses alike on a vast array of fruits and blooms representing all corners of the globe. It is a wonderfully warm and inviting space to bring out-of-towners or to just sit and read a book in the dead months of winter. It is, after all, always 75 degrees here at Lincoln Park Conservatory.

Our Averrhoa carambola, commonly known as Star Fruit or Carambola is fruiting! Like yesterday, the air quality in Chicago is hazardous, so Lincoln Park Conservatory will be closed today, Friday, July 17th. Safety for all is paramount. We are hoping that the air quality improves so that we can open tomorrow.

Due to the Air Quality Alert for Chicago, the Lincoln Park Conservatory is closed for the rest of today and as long as the air quality remains dangerous for our employees and the public. Please watch this page and or the Lincoln Park Conservancy's social media, and we will announce when we can reopen safely.
