Pride is Public Health.🌈

Throughout June CDPH celebrates Pride Month, honoring the contributions of LGBTQ+ communities in Chicago and affirming support and resources for those in need. This year’s Chicago Pride theme is “free to be proud” and resonates with CDPH’s core mission to work with the city’s many communities and partners to create an equitable, safe, resilient, and Healthy Chicago.

Whether it’s resources for

You might know Joabe Barbosa as the Brazilian guy wearing the Chicago flag as a cape, who is trying to run every street in Chicago. He’s also the guy who ran a half marathon in an inflatable bee costume, ran a long-distance race in rainboots, and has the Guinness World Record for the fastest trip visiting every single Chicago CTA Subway Station.

Learn more about Joabe on a new episode of Healthy Chicago Podcast at https://chi.gov/4u5yEcP

Our discussion covers why Joabe runs, what it has unlocked for him and those around him, how exercise affects his mental well-being, and the purpose that drives his journey.

In mid-June, Joabe will make his final run to complete every street in Chicago, and he has invited the whole city to join him. The run will start at Oak St. and Michigan Ave. at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 14 and will end at Buckingham Fountain. Follow Joabe’s journey on IG at .

New Medicaid rules are coming.

Not every member will be impacted. Some adult members may have new work requirements and be required to prove eligibility twice a year instead of once, starting in January 2027.
