Chicago Fire Dept. Engine 46 Truck 17 Ambulance 9
Chicago firehouse located on the Southeast side serving the community known as South Chicago for ove Ambulance 9 was placed into service June 16, 1948.
Engine 46 was placed in service July 15, 1889 with a horse drawn steamer and accompanying hose wagon. Truck 17 was placed in service the same day, with a horse drawn ladder. Truck 17 placed their first motorized apparatus, a 1916 Seagrave J, into service October of 1916. Engine 46 followed with its first motorized pumper, a 1919 Ahrens Fox IM2, in September of 1919.
