Detroit-based members of our regional research team had the opportunity to visit Lee Plaza, one of Detroit’s oldest vacant high rises, and talk with Sachse Construction, the firm managing the renovation project. Among the many issues the team studies is the intersection of construction, real estate and affordable housing and this visit was part of an ongoing effort to understand conditions in the industry and their impact on the communities we serve.

Route 66 turns 100 in 2026, marking a century of America’s most iconic roadway. Fittingly, the Chicago Fed building at Jackson and LaSalle sits right near the highway’s starting point in the Chicago Loop.

To celebrate this milestone, the Chicago Fed’s Money Museum has opened a new exhibit that shares stories from the Mother Road alongside early Federal Reserve notes featuring transportation-themed designs.

Visit us Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to explore the new exhibit and join in the celebration!
