The new group combines the former Korean American Community Services, the area's oldest and largest Korean-American social service agency, and the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center, an advocacy organization. The new Hana Center, with "hana" meaning "one," will be housed in the former KACS building in Albany Park.

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program with a goal to end poverty in the United States. The AmeriCorps VISTA Asian American Community Empowerment Project works to eliminate poverty in the Asian American community in Chicago and beyond. VISTA members sign up for one year of service with a nonprofit organization in our collaborative where they build capacity to address the root causes of poverty in the community. The Asian American Empowerment Project cohort meets monthly for issue-and-skill-based trainings, professional development, and self-care workshops.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The Asian American Community Empowerment Project at KACS is seeking 2 AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve for one year, building capacity at Asian American community organizations across the city of Chicago and its suburbs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Management Coordinator
The AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Management Coordinator will continue implementing a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy for Advancing Justice | Chicago, to expand the pools of volunteers. The member will work with staff members to recognize the need for and use of volunteers, and engage in regular volunteer recruitment team meetings to develop a shared recruitment plan.
Resource Development Associate
AmeriCorps VISTA Resource Development Associate will work with the organization’s fundraising team to develop and expand funding streams for the host site to increase the number of donors and community members; research funding opportunities; build relationships; create documents and systems necessary to pursue and track these opportunities; and work with staff to develop/fine-tune outreach messaging, strategy, and materials to potential funders.
