The Annual Hyde Park Garden Fair saw community members standing in long lines awaiting the 9:00 a.m. opening at Kimbark Plaza — and the excitement continued all day long with checkout lines lasting right up until our 6:00 p.m. closing! 🌸🌿
More than half of our beautiful plants were sold as parents, children, grandparents, college students, and professors came together to celebrate the arrival of spring. The plaza was filled with laughter, conversations, and friendly faces as neighbors connected and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Members of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference (HPKCC) also rolled up their sleeves to help prepare for the busy weekend, supporting setup efforts and helping ensure another successful community event. Their dedication and teamwork continue to make this annual tradition possible.
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and for the many community members who thanked us for continuing this beloved Hyde Park-Kenwood tradition year after year. Events like this remind us of the strength, spirit, and connectedness of our community. 🌷✨

🌎💚 What an Incredible Earth Day of Service! 💚🌎
A huge thank you to the 200 amazing volunteers who came together to help care for our beloved Jackson Park and surrounding community spaces! Your time, energy, and dedication made a tremendous impact.

✨ Together we accomplished so much:

♻️ Rechipped 5 blocks of Jackson Park paths
🧹 Cleaned trash from the East & West Lagoon Banks
🚛 Filled 13 dumpsters with collected trash and debris
🌿 Removed fallen limbs and waste from the lagoons
🌸 Cleared natural performance and community areas for the upcoming Hanami Festival
🌱 Removed dead vines and invasive species from the Columbia Lagoon Banks

This is what community looks like — neighbors coming together to preserve and beautify shared spaces for all to enjoy.

Special appreciation to Charles, Tanya, Pat, Jerry, Louise, and all the volunteers who showed up and got the job done.

📸 We’d love to see your Earth Day moments! Share photos of your Earth Day events around Hyde Park in the comments below.

💚 Our parks are stronger because of you. Our community is brighter because of you.
