Our wish came true! We had several familiar faces (Katy from Alderwoman Ruth Cruz's office, Elvira and her son Xavier from State Rep. Jaime Andrade's office, Bruno from The Villa Neighbors, Sean from the Avondale Neighborhood Association, and Amy and Victoria, original Garden Mural Organizers) and many NEW faces (Gordon, Fin, Jenissa, and Francisco--you 4 were AWESOME!!!).
It was a picture perfect night and as a result of our 1.5 hours of work, the garden looks trim, is trash free, and ready to flourish over the next several months.
We are grateful to those of you who continue to support us and keep the corner of Addison & Avondale trash and graffiti free. If you are unable to join us on a workday, your help in picking up trash or pulling w**ds when you walk by makes a difference!
Enjoy your Spring and the upcoming Summer. Stay tuned for our next workday in July!

Public art cultivates community spirit. We appreciate Cyd Smillie for touching up our Rafael Lopez mural after it had been vandalized.

We had a small but productive group of volunteers yesterday....Victoria, Amy, Michelle (1st timer), Sean, and Bruno!
We look forward to seeing more community members helping out in 2026!

THANK YOU! We had an exceptional team of neighbors who came together Monday afternoon to clean up the Addison & Avondale Mural Garden space! Together, we pruned, w**ded, mulched, and picked up trash for an 1-1/2 hours and it made a really significant difference. Next time you walk by, take a look at the results, and if you see some trash or w**ds....well, you know what to do!
Many thanks to Bruno, Leah and Lin, Elvira from Jaime Andrade, State Representative, 40th District's office and her son Xavier, Katy from 30th Ward Alderwoman Ruth Cruz's office, long-time garden supporter Al, and first-time garden volunteers Kat and Joel, and Joe...and the ever present Amy and Victoria.
If you weren't able to make it this week, our next work day will be in late July/August and we'd love to see then!
