New SNAP Work Requirements:
Beginning February 1, 2026, Able Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDS) participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are now subject to new work requirements in order to maintain their benefits. This new rule applies to adults:
· Between 18 and 64 years old
· Who have no disabilities
· Either have no children, or have children who are 14 or older
· Are not the primary caretaker of an adult who needs help caring for themselves
· Are not in a drug or alcohol treatment program
· Are not enrolled at least part-time in a school or college
Residents subject to the SNAP Work Requirement must, for an average of 20 hours per week (i.e., 80 hours per month), participate in paid or unpaid work; volunteer; engage in a work training program; or a combination of all three.
