It might be time to look through those old photo albums. Photos from South Chicago’s past and present are being collected for consideration in a new permanent mural at the SACRED Apartments.

We’re looking for the moments that tell the neighborhood’s story: family reunions, birthday parties, backyard gatherings, schools, churches, sports, parades, festivals, local businesses, Commercial Avenue, the steel mills and everyday life in South Chicago.

Old and new photos are welcome. Black-and-white photos are welcome. And yes, you can submit more than one.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Claretian Associates' 35th Anniversary Luncheon! We welcomed residents, supporters, community leaders, elected officials, and partners to our 35th Anniversary Luncheon at the South Shore Cultural Center.

We were honored to gather with residents, supporters, partners, community leaders, and friends over lunch and fellowship to celebrate 35 years of service and investment in South Chicago. The afternoon highlighted the partnerships that have supported Claretian Associates' work in affordable housing, community development, supportive services, and programs that help families thrive. From inspiring remarks to a thoughtful fireside chat, the event reflected the power of working together to create opportunities and strengthen our community.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and to all who have supported Claretian Associates throughout the years. Thank you for being part of our story and helping us continue to grow community together. Here's to the next 35 years!

The South Chicago Pitch Competition & South Side Small Business Resource Fair brought entrepreneurs, resource providers, and community members together at the SALUD Center for an inspiring day of innovation and opportunity.

Presented through the partnership of TechRise powered by P33, the event featured five local entrepreneurs pitching their businesses for a chance to win a $25,000 non-dilutive prize, while attendees connected with organizations and professionals offering resources to help businesses launch, grow, and succeed.

Congratulations to Ahava Bey and Timothy Ruther of Sensei's Tea House & Asian Cuisine on being named this year's competition winner!

A special thank you to United Way of Metro Chicago, Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park (IQMP), and Center for Changing Lives and other community partners for their partnership and support in making this event possible.

The People of South Chicago

Who comes to mind when you think about South Chicago?
The SACRED Apartments mural project is looking for photographs that celebrate the people who have shaped the community, past and present.

That could be a longtime resident, a family gathering, a neighborhood business owner, a teacher, a veteran, an artist or simply someone whose story deserves to be remembered.

Photos from every era are welcome, including black-and-white, color and cellphone photos. You can also submit more than one.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Southeast Side Housing Resource Fair!

Attendees had the opportunity to connect with local organizations, explore housing and financial resources, and learn more about programs available throughout the community. We were especially grateful to have Fifth Third Bank's E-Bus on-site providing banking and financial education services.

It was also wonderful to meet so many neighbors interested in learning more about the upcoming SACRED Development.
