Last is our Treasurer and Fundraising/Publicity Chair, Shrinidhi Kadkol. Shrinidhi graduated from UIC in May with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. He joined NLVS because he wanted to help provide the education and healthcare services that are often lacking in disadvantaged communities. A fun fact about Shrinidhi is that he's into metal music and recently started learning how to play electric guitar!

Bhuvni Shah is a Computer Science Major at UIC and helps with NLVS advertising and is the second co-chair for Tutoring and Health Education! Fun fact about Bhuvni is that she loves detective novels and shows. Bhuvni believes NLVS plays an integral role in the community because it provides essential tools like education and communication to those who don’t necessarily have them.

We're going to take a break from our E-board introductions to tell you all about an exciting opportunity to connect with service organizations! The Loyola, Northwestern, and UIC undergraduate NLVS chapters have partnered with Bridge Start, a non-profit organization, to host a virtual volunteer fair on Wednesday, September 9th at 6pm. We know that volunteering opportunities are limited right now, so this is an opportunity to find community organizations in Chicago that aim to serve immigrant and refugee populations. Please sign-up using the google form below if you want to attend and connect with these organizations. Spread the word and share the flier below with your peers! The flier also contains Bridge Start's contact info for those who'd like to contact the organization directly.

Next up is our Community Services and Global Health Chair, Shashank Sandu. Shashank is currently a junior here at UIC majoring in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Spanish. NLVS caught his eye because the organization offers a great opportunity to interact with medical students and fellow undergraduates who are all interested in improving the community around us, whether that be through community service events, tutoring, or clinic volunteering. A fun fact about him is that he enjoys playing badminton whenever he can!

Albert Yen is the Patient Services/Student Involvement Chair and the Secretary for the UIC undergraduate NLVS chapter. He is a junior at UIC majoring in math and computer science major. Albert aims to be engaged with the community around Chicago and was drawn to NLVS because the organization serves such a wide range of people, from elementary school students seeking academic support to the elderly with medical needs. A fun fact about Albert is that he has been to three international Go tournaments!

We are proud to introduce the UIC NLVS board for the Fall 2020 semester! First up is our President, Riya Parikh! Riya is a neuroscience and philosophy major and joined NLVS because she wanted to learn more about different communities to help relieve some of the inequality present throughout Chicago. Through this organization, Riya has met so many incredible people from different backgrounds, obstacles, and triumphs, and looks forward to carrying on the NLVS mission throughout the year. A fun fact about Riya is that she has been to 49/50 states in the US(missing Hawaii)!
