Chicago aldermen might be even more powerful than you think City Council members in New York or Los Angeles don't have the same influence over routine municipal business, with the big exception of zoning.

The Daley family (Rich and Bill) created the Hispanic Democratic Organization (HDO) to control the Hispanic vote and counter the black vote. They put people like Danny Solis in charge, because he was corrupt and they could control him.

Mendoza tries to drag mayoral rivals down into the mud with her on ethics Mendoza accused Gery Chico of being "part of the very same corrupt system" as Bill Daley and Toni Preckwinkle. All three mayoral rivals returned fire.

Gery Chico supported Ed Vrdolyak and Ed Burke over Harold Washington in the racist City Council wars. Vrdolyak and Burke are both corrupt aldermen. This is who Chico owes his career to!

Last of the Eddies Ald. Edward Burke has been waiting nearly 42 years to take over Chicago. If Gery Chico wins, he'll have his chance.
