HANTAVIRUS AWARENESS

The Ghanaian Community Health Clinic would like to encourage our community to stay informed and take precautions against Hantavirus, a rare but serious illness spread mainly through contact with infected rodents and their droppings.

Symptoms may start like the flu and can quickly become severe:
• Fever
• Fatigue
• Muscle aches
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Shortness of breath
• Chest tightness

Prevention Tips:
-Keep homes and storage areas clean
-Seal holes and entry points for rodents
-Store food properly
-Avoid sweeping dry rodent droppings — use disinfectant and wet cleaning methods
-Wear gloves and masks during cleanup

Early medical attention is important, especially if symptoms worsen or breathing becomes difficult.
