Tomorrow is the last day to apply for the CHA and Springboard to Success Scholarship for CHA high school seniors and college undergrad residents pursuing an undergraduate education.
The $2,000 scholarship can help with tuition, books, or supplies.

At our May 2026 meeting, the CHA Board of Commissioners approved:
🏘️ Five new Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contracts, adding 94 Project-Based Voucher (PBV) units
🏙️ Communities include Lakeview, Logan Square, Woodlawn, Grand Boulevard, and the Lower West Side
🏢 Supporting CHA’s ongoing commitment to expanding affordable, high-quality housing opportunities
“Residents belong at the center of everything we do, and these new vouchers reflect that commitment,” said CHA CEO Keith Pettigrew. “These 94 new PBVs will expand options for people who need housing and help build more inclusive neighborhoods across Chicago. We came here to deliver, and this is the kind of progress our residents deserve.” 🥰

Meet Melissa Winston — devoted wife, proud mother of ten, and a lifelong community leader. As the owner of Divine Favor Community Center and a dedicated church minister, she’s spent her life uplifting others.
Her new book, “Mothers of the Projects”, reflects on her upbringing in the projects, celebrating the love, resilience, and friendships that shaped her. Through her storytelling, Melissa honors the mothers who raised families with strength and hope despite the challenges around them.
A powerful reminder that every community holds beauty, courage, and voices worth hearing. 📚

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including Assistant Secretary Ben Hobbs, Regional Administrator Duey Stroebel and Chicago Director Will Dawson, joined CHA CEO Keith Pettigrew and other CHA leadership, on a tour of CHA properties including Trumbull Park, Dearborn Homes, ABLA and the National Public Housing Museum. 🏛️
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the progress being made across CHA communities, highlight ongoing initiatives, and discuss opportunities to further strengthen support and resources for CHA residents. It also served as an important opportunity to improve the partnership between CHA and HUD and continue building collaboration around future initiatives that support residents and communities across Chicago. 💪🏙️
