Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the DSP includes assisting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in realizing their personal outcomes. Choice and desired outcomes are the central premise involved in this position. This requires employees to treat individuals with dignity and respect, to offer choice, provide individualized assistance, supervision and as-needed guidance in all activities of daily living.
The DSP is responsible for, but not limited to, habilitation training, implementation of individual service plans, and assisting in daily living skills.
Required Skills:
The DSP must have the ability to follow a schedule and work with staff and family as a cohesive unit. The DSP must concur with the agency philosophy of providing choice, advocacy, empowerment, community involvement and respect. Written and oral communication skills are necessary for accurate completion of a wide variety of documentation.
Qualifications:
All candidates must have the ability to pass annual criminal background checks. Minimal educational requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be reliable, responsible and possess high moral integrity. Must attend all State mandated (agency provided ) trainings. Note: for applicants interested in working in a residential setting, you must possess a valid driver's license.
