I recently had the opportunity to visit the Obama Presidential Center and get a firsthand look at the incredible progress being made. Walking through the space was inspiring and a reminder of the power of hope, public service, and the belief that each generation can help create a brighter future.

As someone who has dedicated my career to public service, I was especially moved by the Center’s focus on empowering people to make a difference in their communities. I look forward to seeing it open its doors and inspire visitors from Chicago and beyond.

Yesterday, we joined fellow county and city leaders at Daley Plaza for the raising of the Progress Pride Flag in recognition of Pride Month and the many contributions LGBTQ+ individuals have made to Cook County and Chicago.

Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate community, reflect on the progress that has been made, and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring every person is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. We are proud to stand alongside our partners in recognizing the diversity and strength that help make our communities thrive.
