I had the pleasure of joining leaders from across the 50th Ward for another bridge-building meeting earlier this week. These regular gatherings bring together the diverse array of communities in our neighborhood, building a stronger ward for everyone.

Huge thanks to Love West Ridge, JNDC, and the cRc for organizing, and to ICNA Relief for hosting—along with the more than a dozen local organizations who joined us!

I am pleased to announce that new pedestrian safety infrastructure is now in place on Devon Ave. Rapid Flashing Beacons have been installed at several crosswalks in the Devon Ave corridor. Watch now to see how they work!

I was pleased to join community leaders, State Senator Ram Villivalam, and State Representative Kevin Olickal's team to celebrate the grand opening of Midwest Refuah Health Center—a major step forward in expanding access to healthcare in the 50th Ward.

Midwest Refuah is working to make quality healthcare more accessible and affordable by bringing medical, dental, and behavioral health services together under one roof. They accept patients regardless of financial circumstances, offering multiple insurance options as well as sliding-scale fees and financial assistance.

Thank you to the Midwest Refuah team for all you do for our 50th Ward community. Congratulations on this exciting milestone!

I am horrified by the attempted white supremacist attack targeting a Hindu Temple in Aurora. No person or house of worship should ever be threatened by hatred, bigotry, or violence.

I stand in solidarity with the Hindu community in Aurora and with my Hindu neighbors here in the 50th Ward. An attack on one faith community is an attack on the freedom and safety we all demand. We must stand together against hate in all its forms.

REQUEST FROM THE 24TH DISTRICT POLICE

The Chicago Police Department is seeking information about a hit-and-run involving a neighborhood rabbi who was struck by a dark-colored SUV.

INCIDENT DETAILS:

● Date: October 9, 2026
● Time: Approximately 7:10–7:20 p.m.
● Location: Whipple Avenue, just north of Devon Avenue
● Vehicle: Dark-colored SUV
● Direction of travel: Southbound on Whipple, then westbound on Devon
● Status: The vehicle fled the scene
