September 28th! Expungement assistance and other resources:

03/05/2024

Did you know that Illinois now has a law (the Joseph Coleman Act) that allows prisoners to ask to be considered for compassionate release if they’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness or become medically incapacitated since their incarceration? The Illinois Prison Project offers two *free* monthly legal clinics to speak with an attorney about the medical release process and commutation requests.
———
There are separate processes to pursue relief after release, including sealing, or pardon and expungement. If your record has been hindering you, consider reaching out to NAEFI for support and resources in leaving your past in the past 💯

Join us next Tuesday, 3/5 for our FREE virtual legal clinic! Speak one-on-one with an IPP attorney about commutation, medical release and how to shorten a loved one’s sentence.
