Honored to be a part of these efforts to fix the broken court systems that are getting women and their children killed. Thank you 23rd Ward Alderman Silvana Tabares for leading these efforts, along with Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller and the Cook County Commissioners. Bravo to my dear friend, Alderwoman Susan Sadlowski Garza, 10th Ward for bravely telling Amanda's story and for continuing the fight for all women. I am excited to Co-Chair the All In Together committee to bring resources to our communities. More information can be found at RebelHealthCharities.org.

I am so pleased to hear that the new law, Public Act 103-1063, will go into effect on March 1st, 2025. This law will offer victims of gender-based and domestic violence the ability to legally impound their cases if they have health or safety concerns about their case being found in public records.
Last year, I was thrilled to launch the “The Right to Privacy” initiative with Katie Dunne from Chicago77, and my former team at the Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office, led by Carmen Navarro Gercone. These efforts aimed to automatically redact court documents that contained personal reproductive health or gender-affirming care information. My friend, Mayor Lori Lightfoot, along with so many wonderful organizations provided so much support.
We are now working to expand these efforts in jurisdictions across the country! More news to come...
While there is much more work to do to enshrine the right to privacy for women’s reproductive healthcare and gender-affirming care from remaining in public records in Illinois, this law is a great step in the right direction. Thank you to the legislators for all of your efforts!

Abortion, other reproductive health info would be shielded in court documents under pioneering proposal The initiative, the first of its kind in the country, would automatically seal or redact details about someone's reproductive health detailed in court documents.
