Coalition Against Broadview ICE Facility Official Statement
Mayor Katrina Thompson Criticism of 21 Protesters Arrested During Friday Prayer Vigil

The Coalitiion Against Broadview ICE Facility has learned that Mayor Katrina Thompson of Broadview continues to criticize our protesters and now faith leaders.

Where is Mayor Katrina Thompson public criticism of what we all learned of the INHUMANE practices that human beings have no choice but to endure in the Broadview facility?

In fact, where is the criticism of this Mayor when the Illinois State Police is attacking protesters at will with illegal taxtics such as: batons, riot gear, physical beatings and illegal kettling. Even worst, what is so bizarre is that protesters are aarrested for holding protest signs or standing on a corner not in the street presenting no threat to law enforcement.

News Anchor Chris Tye of CBS Chicago posted on twitter the verbal exchange between Chicago Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez and Governor JB Pritzker. We the activist coalition thank the Alderman who has sounded the alarm to Governor JB Pritzker to speak the truth that the “Illinois State Police is arresting protesters" Alderman said. However Mayor Katrina Thompson continues to suppress the truth as to what is really happening on the grounds to appeal to her base. These are Trump like practices that the Mayor is presenting. The Mayor receives her intelligence from Chief Mills the result of the protest. Some how the Mayor can condemn protesters but silent on the aggressive tactics we are facing.

ABC 7 Chicago reports, “The violence by out-of-town protesters that has led to two Village of Broadview police officers, one Illinois State police officer, and a Cook County Sheriff’s deputy being injured this morning, with the two Broadview officers and the sheriff’s deputy being transported to Loyola hospital, is unacceptable and outrageous.

I have repeatedly pleaded to protesters to raise their voices, not their fists. They have chosen their fists. These out-of-towners have chosen to brutalize police officers who have been protecting their free speech and protecting them against assaults by ICE agents, (2025, Wade, S., Kawash, M., Horng, E., Markoff, B., Tressel, C., and Jones, T.).

Group of Concerned Activist
Official Statement
Mayor Katrina Thompson and Broadview Officials Orders Community Tent ofSupplies be Removed by Thursday October 30, 2025.

To: Media Outlasts
Purpose: Request Media to Witness Protesters Remove Community Tent

The Coalition Against Broadview ICE Facility stands with Group of Concerned Activist who has been told by Mayor Katrina Thompson that the supplies tent must be removed by Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 10am.

Rabbi Michael Ben Yosef says, “I felt the need to let this weekend protest theme be "Protect The Tent".

"The Tent" is a symbol of hope and human decency to serve when PURE EVIL exist in Broadview to detain human beings at 1930 Beach Street. "The Tent" was targeted FIRST by ICE and NOW by Mayor Katrina Thompson City of Broadview in retaliation of a lawsuit filed this week. Please stand with our volunteers who are staging a "SIT IN PROTEST" in solidarity against the system.

This is the latest example that Mayor Katrina Thompson DEVALUES protesters with EXECUTIVE ORDERS and REMOVING TENT SUPPLIES that serves not just protesters but also the community.

We have witnessed citizens not affiliated with the protesters or actions but were offered the same hospitality in equality.

Fox 32 Chicago, “COOK COUNTY – Protesters at the Broadview ICE facility in Chicago’s western suburbs refused to take down their “Yes We Canopy” tent despite being ordered by the village to do so.

Broadview police took the canopy down around 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

What we know:
The Village of Broadview issued a notice requiring that the Mutual Aid Hub, also known as the “Yes We Canopy” tent, be removed by 10 a.m. Thursday, citing a violation of the local public camping ordinance.

The tent was set up weeks ago to support families of people detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, offering information on legal resources and other assistance.

Protesters say the tent has also served as an important link for those seeking updates about loved ones held inside the ICE processing center.

Some volunteers have been staying in the tent around the clock to keep it staffed and protect donated supplies.

What’s next:
Organizers say they’re preparing for a peaceful sit-in beginning at 9:30 a.m., just before the village’s 10 a.m. deadline.

They’ve been cleaning and organizing the space, moving materials like PPE, water bottles, and sign-making supplies into storage but intend to leave the tent standing as a symbol of resistance.

Protesters say their sit-in will be non-confrontational, aimed at highlighting what they call an infringement on their right to assemble.

Broadview police took the canopy down around 7 p.m. Thursday evening, (2025, Premus).
