We are current and former students, teachers and staff, community stakeholders, and Albany Park residents committed to strengthening Roosevelt High School.
Our group will provide support by raising funds for students’ educational and recreational needs, promote open communication, and strive to bring Roosevelt High School from a good school to a great school.
Through conversations with Principal Daniel Kramer, Friends of Roosevelt High School will focus on the following:
1. Address the Athletic Field on Kimball Ave.
Our immediate plans are to provide signage for the area, secure flexible seating, and oversee a long overdue and much needed makeover. It is our belief that the students at Roosevelt High School deserve an area that they can gather for recreational activities.
2. Relationship Building throughout the Community
Friends of Roosevelt High School will serve as community ambassadors. We aim to build meaningful relationships with the elementary and middle schools, parent groups, and neighbors around the school. It is our goal to connect the students at Roosevelt High School to the students at Hibbard Elementary and Albany Park Multicultural Academy to foster student-to-student relationships and mentorship opportunities.
3. Promote and Support the Parents
Next school year, we will pilot the ‘Parent Perk Pass’ specifically for parents of Roosevelt High School students. This pass will feature discounts to local businesses as a way to thank our parents for all they do for Roosevelt High School.
